Many crowding problems are really room problems. If the jaw has space to grow, adult teeth often find their place. Dr. Smriti checks how your child’s jaws and teeth are developing, then suggests the gentlest way to guide them.
A palatal expander gently widens the upper jaw while the roof of the mouth is still growing. More room can mean less crowding and a better bite. In some children it also helps with breathing through the nose.
Active widening usually takes a few weeks, followed by several months of holding while new bone settles. Timing varies from child to child.
Invisalign First is a set of clear, removable trays made for children who still have a mix of baby and adult teeth, commonly around ages 6 to 10. It can help widen the arch, make room for teeth that are coming in and correct early bite problems. Older children with all adult teeth may suit Invisalign Teen.
Orthodontists often recommend a first check-up by around age 7, when a mix of baby and adult teeth makes early guidance easiest.
Trays are usually changed every week or two, and your child takes them out to eat and brush.

Back teeth have deep grooves where bristles cannot reach. A thin tooth-coloured coating is painted into them and set with a light, so food and bacteria cannot settle.
Regular cleaning and a fluoride check keep enamel strong from the first teeth onwards.
First permanent molars arrive around age 6 and second molars around 12. These are the best time for sealants.
Frequent snacking, sugary drinks or past cavities? We may suggest fluoride and remineralization gel more often.

No. Putting a baby tooth back can damage the adult tooth developing under the gum. Call us so we can check the area.
Rinse the mouth and keep any piece in milk. Call us the same day. If the edge is sharp or there is bleeding, come sooner.
A head injury needs a doctor first. Go to the nearest emergency room, and then call us about the teeth.

Most children do well with a gentle approach and a friendly team. For those who need a little extra help to feel calm, Dr. Smriti offers three levels of sedation. She holds training in dental sedation and anesthesia, and she chooses the lightest option that works for your child.
Dr. Smriti is a certified oral and nitrous oxide inhalation sedation specialist (Maulana Azad Dental College) and the author of a book, Sedation in Pediatric Dentistry. Our pedodontists Dr. Neha Kohli and Dr. Neha Gupta are also trained in conscious sedation.
Sedation is an option, not the default. We usually start with talking, showing and distraction, and we bring in sedation only when it will make the visit kinder and safer for your child.

Often called laughing gas. Your child breathes a sweet-smelling gas and oxygen mix through a small mask over the nose. It takes the edge off worry while your child stays awake and can talk with us.
It starts working within a few minutes, and we adjust the amount throughout. At the end, your child breathes pure oxygen for a few minutes and the gas clears. It relaxes but doesn’t numb, so we still use numbing where it’s needed.
Nitrous oxide is sometimes called “laughing gas” because it can make children feel giggly and relaxed rather than sleepy.
Bubbles is one of the few clinics in Gurgaon equipped with nitrous oxide sedation.
A medicine your child swallows, given at the clinic before treatment. It brings deeper relaxation than gas, and many children become sleepy.
The doctor chooses the medicine and the dose based on your child’s age, weight and health. We wait for it to take effect, then begin treatment while monitoring your child throughout.
Medicine given through a tiny tube in a vein, usually on the back of the hand or the arm. The team can adjust how deep the sedation is minute by minute.
That control makes it suited to longer or more complex treatment. Your child keeps breathing on their own, and their oxygen level, heart rate and breathing are watched the whole time.
For a small number of children, sedation isn’t enough. Very young children, or children who can’t cooperate, may need a lot of treatment at once.
In those cases we can offer full-mouth rehabilitation under general anesthesia, so your child gets the care they need without distress.
Every medicine carries some risk, so we plan carefully and explain everything before we start. We never sedate a child without your consent.

When the right child is chosen, the right medicine and dose are used, and a trained team monitors your child throughout, sedation is used routinely in pediatric dentistry. It still carries some risk, which is why we review your child’s health first and go through it all with you.
No. With sedation your child keeps breathing on their own and stays relaxed to different degrees, from awake to deeply sleepy. General anesthesia means full unconsciousness with support for breathing. Dr. Smriti will explain which one fits your child’s treatment.
With nitrous oxide, no. Your child stays awake and relaxed. With oral sedation your child may doze but can be woken. With IV sedation your child is often asleep for much of the visit.
With nitrous oxide, children usually remember it but feel relaxed. With oral and IV sedation, many children remember little or nothing.
For nitrous oxide a light meal is usually fine. For oral and IV sedation we give exact fasting instructions when you book, and it’s important to follow them.
Please call us. A blocked nose can stop nitrous oxide from working, and a chest infection can make sedation less safe, so we may move the appointment.
Sedation calms your child but doesn’t numb the tooth, so we still use local anesthesia where treatment needs it. We do this gently, and sedation makes it much easier for many children.
It depends on the type of sedation and the length of treatment. We share an estimate after the consultation, before anything is booked.
